1. Deep Tissue & Sports/Orthopedic: A bodywork technique specifically geared towards enhancing athletic performance and/or maintaining healthy tissues of the body in order to continue physical activity without chronic pain. This form of massage also relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension and toxins which can build up in the body's soft tissues during demanding athletic performance.
2. Hot Stone Massage Therapy: This type of massage involves the therapist using heated, smoothed, flat Basalt stones which are placed on key points of the body. The stones are also used as the therapist holds them in their hands during the massage itself to help rejuvenate and relax the tissues quicker. The stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heating device until they are within 127 to 135 degrees. Basalt stones are usually the size of a large egg, and are rich in iron, therefore they can retain the heat for longer periods of time.
3. Myofascial Release Treatment: A safe and highly effective manual therapy that involves applying slow, sustained pressure to help release tension in the fascial layers using little to no lotion. Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds each muscle and interconnects all internal components of the body, such as the organs. This tissue specifically can store physical or emotional memories due to trauma (such as surgical procedures) and by helping to release it physically, some believe that it may help eliminate any emotional components that fascia harbors.
4. Prenatal Massage Therapy: This particular version of massage focuses directly on the well being of the mother-to-be as she goes through the many changes of pregnancy. The most common concern among women is water retention in the last trimester of pregnancy. After the baby is born, we then gear our sessions towards restoring normal range of motion back into the joints, improve general body tone as well as increase circulation to help the blood and lymph fluid travel quicker. Rosita Arvigo, a doctor of Naprapathy, has discovered the absolute importance of abdominal massage to help restore a non-centered uterus due to prolonged labors, falls to the sacrum, wearing high heels, etc.
